Hey, what's up? Welcome to my blog.

Book Review 7: Learning To Love Myself by Alex Aubrey

Hey, what’s up?

I’ve got another book to share with you all.

I’ve been following an Instagram account that regularly posts poetry, and over time, I found myself relating deeply to a lot of the content. The words felt honest and raw, and they stayed with me long after I scrolled past. Eventually, curiosity got the better of me and I decided to get the book behind the posts — Learning To Love Myself by Alex Aubrey.

Actually, I bought two books that day (I’ll talk about the other one in a future post), but let’s focus on this one for now.

I ordered it from Amazon for about £11.40 and had it delivered to a nearby Amazon locker — super convenient, by the way. The book is divided into four chapters:

  1. Stuck and Unhappy
  2. Learning to Let Go
  3. Learning to Love Myself
  4. You Are Your Own Home

I’d rate this book a 7/10. The writing is good, and while it’s marketed as a poetry book, it’s not purely poetry — there are quite a few quotes and prose reflections scattered throughout. The author seems to take us on her journey of healing after heartbreak, learning to reclaim her sense of self — which aligns perfectly with the title.

I’ll admit, I’m not the best person to fully connect with the themes, since I’ve never really been in love (yes, welcome to my sad single life). So instead of offering deep reflections, I’ll just flip through a few pages and share some of the quotes and poems that stood out to me.

Not exactly a traditional book review, I know — but I hope you enjoy this glimpse into the book, or at least find something meaningful in the quotes I’ve picked. See you in my next post!
